Z-translates the sample chamber and adjusts the position of the Illumination Unit so that the light sheet is always in the image plane of the detection lens. Triggers the laser(s) / camera(s) to acquire images after each Z step.
Powers Lasers and triggers lasers / cameras.
Laser source to form the light sheet.
Spreads the collimated Laser beam into a (thick) sheet with large angular opening.
Controls the lateral position of the moving Laser so as to align it to the fixed Laser.
Focuses the light sheet at the sample position to a width of approximately 10-15 microns.
The sample is embedded in an agarose cylinder held in a quartz chamber. The light sheet position is adjusted thinnest at sample, optimizing optical sectioning.
Rotates the sample through paired magnets (PM), motor M3 and a mechanism (RM) allowing the Z-translation of the chamber.
Z-translates the Illumination Unit.
Z-translates the sample chamber.
Focuses the fluoresence emitted in the light sheet plane to the camera.
Collects the fluorescent light emitted in the imaging plane.
Holds the emission filter attenuating background light (especially direct light from the Lasers).
